Flo GreenIndonesian coffee processor map

Methodology and sources

How Flo Green collects, counts and shows its data, and how to ask for a correction.

What is in the directory

Flo Green lists units that process coffee after harvest and sell it themselves: cooperatives, farmer groups, estates, processors and farmer-processors. It is neutral: a listing is not an endorsement and no one pays to be listed. The first set has 31 processors from 13 provinces.

Six Flo partners named on the Our Partners page of flocoffee.id carry the "Verified by Flo" mark. Every other entry rests on public sources only.

Sources behind every field

Each field on a processor page carries small numbers that point to its sources: the processor's own website or profile, Cup of Excellence results, importer and roaster lot pages, Geographical Indication documents, research articles and news. A field with no source reads "no data yet"; nothing is estimated to fill a gap.

When sources disagree, the page keeps the most specific source about the unit itself and the disagreement is recorded for the next review. Capacity is shown in the words it was published in, with its unit and period.

The dot map, elevation and pins

Each dot is one cell of a regular grid laid over the land. Province and regency shapes come from Overture Maps divisions (release 2026-10-21.0, built on OpenStreetMap). Elevation is the mean of the terrain tiles inside the cell (Mapzen Terrain Tiles on AWS, zoom 8), so a dot shows the ground around it, not a summit. Larger and darker dots stand higher; in 3D the same value becomes height.

A processor's pin sits at the centre of its kecamatan when that point is known, otherwise at the middle of its kabupaten. The map never shows a farm or a house.

Cup of Excellence Indonesia

The dashboard holds every lot of the Cup of Excellence Indonesia editions 2021, 2022, 2023, 2026: 129 COE and National Winner lots, with names exactly as the Alliance for Coffee Excellence publishes them and a link to each lot page. Lot descriptions are not copied. Prices for 2026 are added after the auction on 1 December 2026. 2024 and 2025 have no results: the ACE Indonesia 2024 page has no results table, there is no 2025 page, and Daily Coffee News put the next Indonesia auction on the 2026 schedule (checked 24 October 2026).

A lot is linked to a directory entry only when the ACE row names that unit as the farm or the entrant. Lots entered under a person's name alone stay in the COE tables without a link.

How potential notes are counted

A sample is one lot or one coffee with its tasting descriptors: COE jury descriptors, Flo cupping notes from the shop, and lot notes published by processors, importers or roasters (88 samples so far). Each descriptor is placed in a category of the SCA and World Coffee Research flavor wheel (2016); structure words such as "silky" are left out and acids are counted on their own.

A percentage is the share of samples that name a category at least once, with a 95% confidence interval (Wilson). A group with fewer than 5 samples shows "not enough data" and no percentages. These are potential notes for a region, not a promise of how a coffee will taste.

Post-harvest processes

Processes keep the wording of their source. For filters and counts they are grouped into washed, wet-hulled, natural, honey, anaerobic, carbonic maceration, co-ferment, experimental and other. "Semi-washed" and "dry hulled" mean different things in different regions, so they stay in "other" unless the source says more.

Privacy

The directory shows only contacts that processors publish themselves, such as a website, a business account or a business WhatsApp number. Personal names and personal numbers appear only with consent.

The sourcing and correction forms are sent as one email to partnership@flocoffee.id; this site keeps no copy. On the public site, Google Analytics 4 and the Meta Pixel measure visits and form sends without the form contents. Under Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law (UU No. 27/2022) you can ask for personal data to be corrected or deleted at any time.

Corrections and removals

Anyone can ask for a correction, a removal or a new entry through the correction form or by email. A removal request from the processor itself is carried out without debate. A new entry is added once its name, kabupaten, process and at least one source check out.
